    THE RAGAZZA COLOUR SELECTION

    Inspired by the colour character
    of natural fancy-colour diamonds

At RAGAZZA, selecting a coloured diamond begins with the colour itself. We choose lab-grown diamonds within colour ranges that overlap those of natural fancy-colour diamonds, preserving an appearance close to the natural colour character we value.

The colour ranges of natural and lab-grown diamonds are not identical. RAGAZZA does not recommend colours outside their overlapping ranges when they depart from the natural fancy-colour appearance we seek. This considered selection guides both our choice of stones and our jewellery colour combinations.

In our pink diamond jewellery, we assess hue, intensity and transparency alongside the supporting diamonds and metal, allowing the centre stone’s colour to become part of a coherent design.

Explore natural and lab-grown diamond colour ranges ↗
    01 / HUE

    The complete hue

Diamonds with the same main hue can look different because of their modifying colours. We consider the complete colour description alongside the stone itself, assessing whether its hue reflects the natural fancy-colour character we seek.

    02 / COLOUR EXPRESSION

    Intensity and tone

A darker colour is not necessarily more vivid. We assess tone, saturation and colour distribution, and recommend the colour expression of Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid.

    03 / HARMONY

    Colour harmony

Place the pink diamond at the visual centre, considering supporting stones, metal colour and setting proportions together for balance and depth.

How metal complements the centre stone

The same diamond colour can take on a different character against different metals. These illustrations show colour pairings; assess the actual effect together with the setting and the jewellery itself.

    FANCY COLOUR GRADES

    Fancy-colour grades and appearance

Fancy-colour grades describe combinations of tone and saturation. These five terms are illustrated within the pink colour family. RAGAZZA recommends Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid, then further assesses the actual colour of each stone.

Select a grade to explore its description. Both recommended grades can be viewed independently.

Fancy LightLight FancyFancy RAGAZZA recommendsFancy IntenseIntense RAGAZZA recommendsFancy VividVivid Fancy DeepDeep

    COLOUR CHARACTER

    Fancy Light Light

A softer colour impression. Consider whether the main hue and modifying colours are clear, and whether the tone is appealing in everyday light. Delicate and vivid colours represent different aesthetic directions.

    COLOUR CHARACTER

    Fancy Fancy

A recognisable coloured appearance. Fancy still covers a range of tone and saturation within each hue. The grade alone cannot describe every stone; compare the complete colour description and the diamond itself.

    RAGAZZA RECOMMENDED

    Fancy Intense Intense

Usually displays stronger colour expression. RAGAZZA recommends Fancy Intense, then assesses the complete colour description, modifying hues, colour distribution and overall jewellery palette before selecting the actual stone.

    RAGAZZA RECOMMENDED

    Fancy Vivid Vivid

Usually describes vivid, strongly expressed colour. RAGAZZA recommends Fancy Vivid while also assessing tone, modifying colours, transparency and design harmony. Diamonds within one grade can still have different visual characters.

    COLOUR CHARACTER

    Fancy Deep Deep

Describes a deeper colour with a corresponding level of saturation. Deep and Vivid represent different combinations of tone and saturation, rather than a simple higher or lower grade. Consider the face-up light and dark pattern and overall colour character.

The colour illustrations are conceptual references, not grading samples. Other terms include Faint, Very Light, Light and Fancy Dark; their applicability varies by hue. Fancy Deep and Fancy Vivid describe different combinations of tone and saturation and should not be treated as a simple linear ranking.

    INDEPENDENT GEMOLOGICAL REPORTS

    Grading reports and specification checks

GIA and IGI both offer reports relating to lab-grown coloured diamonds. The information covered can vary by service. Read the actual report for the diamond and assess it together with the stone itself.

    01Origin and treatment information
Check natural or laboratory-grown origin, along with any growth methods and treatments disclosed in the report. Similar colour does not imply the same origin.
02The complete colour description and distribution
Read the main hue, modifying colours and Fancy terminology together. Photographs, video or an in-person viewing are still needed to assess colour distribution and face-up appearance.
    03Weight, measurements and identity
Compare the carat weight and actual length, width and depth. Where applicable, match a laser inscription to the report number. The information recorded depends on the report service.

    THE RAGAZZA STANDARD

    Our clarity and cut standards

The colour of your diamond is carefully selected. Its clarity, transparency and light performance must also meet RAGAZZA's selection standards.

    01 / CLARITY

VS1 or higher, with an eye-clean check

RAGAZZA selects lab-grown coloured centre diamonds with VS1 or higher clarity and checks the actual stone for an eye-clean appearance. At normal everyday viewing distance, there should be no readily noticeable inclusions that distract from its face-up appearance, allowing you to enjoy clear, natural-looking colour.

VS1 means Very Slightly Included 1: minor inclusions that are difficult for a skilled grader to see under 10× magnification. Eye-clean describes the appearance without magnification. RAGAZZA considers both the report grade and the actual stone, also checking for noticeable haze or features that affect transparency.

    The quality you receive

    • VS1 or higher clarity for the coloured centre diamond
    • An eye-clean appearance at normal wearing distance
    • Clarity and transparency checked on the actual stone
Understand clarity and diamond appearance ↗
    02 / CUT

Selected for colour, light and finished proportions

RAGAZZA assesses cutting proportions, polish and symmetry alongside the diamond's actual brightness, scintillation, transparency and colour distribution. Stones with dull light performance, obvious light leakage or unbalanced dark areas are screened out. The centre diamond must display bright, layered light performance that complements its colour before it is selected for a piece.

Each shape is assessed according to its outline and facet structure. We then consider supporting diamonds, metal colour and setting proportions together. Report data, video, the actual stone and its appearance after setting all inform our selection and stone matching.

    How we select

    • Compare actual brightness, scintillation and colour distribution
    • Assess proportions, symmetry, obvious light leakage and dark areas
    • Match the centre diamond, supporting stones and setting design

    18K GOLD · CRAFTSMANSHIP · QUALITY

From 18K gold to the finishing details

We recommend 18K gold, bringing precious-metal character, sound structure and carefully finished details into jewellery made to be worn.

    01

    75% gold, a considered material

18K contains 75% gold, compared with about 37.5%, 41.7% and 58.5% in 9K, 10K and 14K. At equal weight, it contains more gold and higher intrinsic gold value, and is generally less prone to tarnishing.

    02

    Strength for refined details

Alloying improves the hardness of pure gold for fine lines and secure structures. White, yellow and rose gold all share the same 75% gold content.

    03

    Precise setting and finishing

We inspect stone seats, prong proportions, fit and security, then review polishing and surface finish for rough tips, visible tool marks and uneven setting.

    04

    Checked again before delivery

We verify stones, metal, dimensions and engraving, inspect stone security, closures and smooth edges, then clean and recheck. Any adjustments are inspected again.

PT950 costs the same as 18K gold for the same design. Contact us to confirm production timing. Materials and finishing follow the selected design.

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    Frequently asked questions

Practical information about production, delivery, care and choosing a coloured diamond.

When can I receive or collect my order?

Depending on availability, some in-stock pieces can be collected on the same day or dispatched within three working days. Pieces without ready stock generally require three to four weeks of production. Delivery outside Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Malaysia generally takes ten to fifty-six days, depending on the destination and logistics.

For a particular date or an urgent order, please confirm availability, production and delivery arrangements with us before ordering.

Enquire about availability and production ↗
Will I need to pay tax?

Orders for Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia are tax-free. Taiwan orders carry tax of 5% of the total amount. Other destinations collect import charges under local customs rules.

You can use the third-party SimplyDuty calculator for an estimate, with Hong Kong as the origin for international orders. Estimates are indicative; local customs and courier assessments determine the actual charges.

What care, exchange or return services are available?

Jewellery purchased from RAGAZZA includes lifetime care. Products may be exchanged within seven days of receipt, excluding custom orders. If a product does not match its description, collection and a full refund can be arranged; refunds are otherwise unavailable.

Applicable conditions follow our aftercare and exchange policies. Please contact us about arrangements for an individual piece.

How do 18K gold, platinum and 925 silver differ?

We recommend 18K gold (AU750): 75% gold, balancing precious-metal content, everyday durability and hardness suited to setting. PT950 contains 95% platinum and is naturally silvery white. S925 contains 92.5% silver and tarnishes more readily, requiring more frequent care.

PT950 is priced the same as 18K gold for the same design. Please contact us to arrange it, as production timing may differ and needs confirmation.

    Compare 18K gold, platinum and silver ↗Arrange a PT950 order ↗
How do I find my ring size, and can it be changed?

Use our ring-size guide and conversion chart, or request a complimentary measuring strip from the ring-sizer page. Ring width and finger joints affect the right size; aim for a comfortable fit.

We offer one complimentary size replacement with no time limit. The appropriate arrangement is confirmed for the individual design.

    Ring-size methods and conversion chart ↗Request a free ring-size measuring strip ↗
Do lab-grown and natural diamonds look different, and can they become cloudy?

Both are diamonds, with the same fundamental physical and optical properties. Normal unaided observation cannot reliably establish origin; professional testing is needed.

Normal wear does not gradually make the diamond itself cloudy. Surface oils, skincare products and everyday dirt can reduce its lustre, which appropriate cleaning can usually restore.

If anything still looks unusual after cleaning, or dirt is trapped around the setting, arrange a professional inspection and cleaning.
